Wolcott Garden Treasures
Andromeda comes in a multitude of sizes, colors and bloom times.
The larger shrub types range from 2' to 8' tall and 3' to 7' wide. Some bloom as early as late March, and others as late as early May. All varieties boast the typical, bell-shaped pieris flower, but flower and foliage colors can vary.
Of the smaller varieties, Blue Ice Bog Rosemary is probably the best known. This Andromeda is more of a perennial than a shrub, with a nicely mounded habit only 1-2' tall and wide. It also has bell-shaped flowers, which are white with a pink tinge, and pretty, powdery bluish needles. It is an early spring bloomer.
