Catmint (Nepeta)
This vigorous, spreading perennial, also known as catnip, has aromatic, gray-green leaves that are intoxicating to cats. 

Available in many varieties, nepeta grows well in rocky, poor soil and is tolerant of heat and drought.  Depending on the selection, blue or purple flower spikes grow to between 16-36" in height in early to mid-summer, and some bloom into the fall.

Characteristics: drought tolerant, attractive to cats, butterflies and bees.
