Daylily (Hemerocallis)

Daylilies form compact clumps of grassy foliage that create a beautiful border.

While the blooms are similar, Daylilies are not the same as Lilies - in fact, they're not even in the same family!  For this reason, Daylilies are not susceptible to the red lily beetle, which has become a huge problem in this area in recent years.

Daylilies differ from true lilies in their foliage, as well.  Lilies grow strongly upright, with short, narrow foliage that grows horizontally from the stem.  Daylilies grow on tufts of narrow foliage that resemble ornamental grass, making them attractive even when there are no blooms.

In any given season, we carry a number of varieties, some of which are considered "ever-blooming."    Daylilies can be found in several shades of gold, as well as red and orange.
