Wolcott Garden Treasures
Sempervivum (Hens & Chicks or Houseleeks)
This succulent, evergreen perennial has tightly packed rosettes of leaves. Gray-green leaves are tipped reddish-brown and are bristle pointed. This is a full sun perennial that is easy to grow and very adaptable.
The arachnoideum varieties are often referred to as Hens & Chicks because of the mother plants that give rise to smaller offsets.
Tectorum varieties are similar in their production of rosettes, but look a little less like mother and child plants. They are commonly referred to as Houseleeks.
Varieties:
Arachnoideum Braunii - green-red leaves, summer bloom, 3-4” tall
Arachnoideum Cobweb - pale green-silver leaves, rose red summer bloom, 3-4” tall
