Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia ‘glyptostroboides’)
- 110’ tall x 30-40’ wide
- Vigorous and upright, this large growing conifer is perfect for specimen use or functions well in large windbreaks
- Fine textured, medium green foliage turns a beautiful orange to red-brown before dropping in the fall
- Older specimens form wide buttresses on the lower trunk (see photo); these growths can be prevented by limbing at a very young age, but most people enjoy this distinct look
- Around since prehistoric times, vast metasequoia forests from the Mesozoic era are now present in fossil form
