Shade Gardening
Finding interesting plants to decorate your shady areas can be a real challenge!  Most of our native plants require full sun, but we do have a good selection of beautiful shade-loving and shade tolerant plants you can use to fill in your sun-challenged spaces. 

Keep in mind, however, that even shade plants require at least a couple hours of sun each day, so you'll be hard pressed to find anything that will grow under heavy tree cover or in a totally shaded corner of your house.  Also, "shade" plants can require anywhere from 2-4 hours of filtered or even direct sun a day, and each is different, so take a little time to read the tags on the plants you're considering before you take them home to plant in an area that might not be ideal.
