Winter Checklist
Check on your burlap-wrapped plants: if you wrapped any of your shrubs in burlap to protect against the cold and wind, make sure you check them from time to time. Make sure the body of the plant is still lightly wrapped but fully covered with the top open to the sun. If you're having trouble keeping the wrap from unwinding in the wind, try cutting thin slices (like button holes) on each side of the fabric where it overlaps and tie thin rope or velcro strapping around the holes to hold the seam.
Post-plowing cleanup: plowing and snowblowing can push lots of debris into your flower beds and on to your lawn. When the snow clears and there's a nice day, try to get out here and there to remove stones, asphalt and other objects from your landscape. Doing it little by little will help ease you into the season.
Make a plan: figure out what you'd like to achieve in your outdoor space and make your own checklist and timeline. Life is busy, so structuring yourself and your projects will help you get everything done without feeling over-extended.
